My hen wont lay eggs?

I got a hen and a rooster almost a week ago and my hen hasnt layed any eggs? the previous owner said they are pretty sure she has layed before. At first i thought it might be because i was keeping them in a large dog cage most of the time since its been over 100 this week but i built a little thing so they're outside all day and can walk around in the gr and i only take them in at night so raccoon's don't eat them. any answers?
